Sumitra Hansda: From a Tribal Village to a Working Nurse

Sumitra Hansda completed her education at SSVM in 2013. She comes from a tribal community in Jharkhand where access to quality schooling, let alone career guidance, barely existed before the school arrived.

The school gave her both. The career guidance she received pointed her toward Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM). She pursued it, qualified, and today works at a private hospital. She supports her family financially — a first-generation earner from a tribal village, now a working healthcare professional.

"The career guidance which I got from this school helped me in getting admission in ANM," she says. "The school helped me in reaching where I am today in my life."

The distance between a tribal village with no school and a hospital salary was bridged by one thing: a free education that took her seriously enough to show her what was possible.
